We’re pleased to have secured planning permission for a new ultra-rapid EV charging hub for Tesla at 8 Prince Georges Road, Colliers Wood, in the London Borough of Merton. One of the first EV charging hubs consented within a designated Strategic Industrial Location (SIL) in London.
This site represents a prime location for EV infrastructure. Positioned within an established commercial area and close to the A236 and A24 corridor, it offers strong connectivity and convenient access for both local businesses and passing traffic. In an area with limited ultra-rapid charging provision, the hub will provide critical infrastructure to support growing EV demand.
The scheme delivers 34 ultra-rapid charging bays, alongside supporting electrical infrastructure, an amenity block and soft landscaping. It will operate 24/7, ensuring flexibility for commercial users and drivers who rely on fast, reliable charging at all hours.
The application was initially refused in 2025. The key issue centred on demonstrating that the hub would complement, not compromise, the function of the wider SIL industrial area in accordance with Development Plan policy. Enzygo worked closely with Tesla to resubmit a clear and evidence-led case that ultra-rapid EV infrastructure directly supports business operations, logistics activity and the long-term transition to low-carbon transport. Enzygo strengthened the planning strategy with additional site selection evidence, demand data, marketing evidence, design changes, and further policy justification, addressing officer concerns directly as set out in the earlier decision.
Following validation, planning permission was secured within just 12 weeks – reflecting the quality of the resubmission and proactive engagement with officers at the London Borough of Merton throughout the determination process.
