Planning advice that unlocks development opportunities

Award-Winning Environmental Planning Consultancy

Delivering renewable and low carbon development is one of Enzygo’s core objectives. As a planning-led environmental consultancy, our Planning Team is central to that goal.

Planning advice that unlocks development opportunities

Our Planning Team works with developers from the earliest stages of site identification and feasibility through pre-application engagement, EIA, planning submission, determination, appeal and post-consent delivery. We understand that securing planning permission requires considerably more than preparing a compliant application package. Successful projects depend on identifying risks early, building the right technical evidence, developing a clear planning strategy and actively managing issues throughout the planning process.

Our projects are director-led and client-focused, with an experienced Planning Lead retaining strategic oversight and responsibility throughout. We combine detailed knowledge of planning policy, legislation, case law and development management with a strong understanding of project budgets, programme, commercial objectives and deliverability.

Renewable energy is our bread and butter.

Our planners have extensive experience across solar PV, battery energy storage systems, renewable and flexible energy infrastructure, EV charging and associated grid infrastructure, and wind, including complex projects involving Green Belt, landscape and visual effects, ecology, flood risk, heritage, agricultural land, highway safety, residential amenity and other significant planning constraints.

As part of Enzygo’s multidisciplinary model, our Planners work directly alongside internal specialists in landscape, ecology, hydrology and drainage, transport, noise, arboriculture, geo-environmental, air quality and environmental permitting. This integrated structure allows planning strategy, technical evidence and scheme design to develop together rather than as disconnected workstreams.

For our clients, that means one Planning Lead, one coordinated team and one clear route through the planning process. Enzygo truly are a one-stop-shop!

Assess the Opportunity

We become involved early. Through planning feasibility assessments, we help our clients assess portfolios of potential sites. We have developed bespoke site appraisal RAG matrices with our clients to quickly assess land interest for development opportunities, identify planning risk, and target investment decisions to maximise value for our clients on the shortest timescales.

Shape the Strategy

Once a project progresses, our Planning Lead manages the planning strategy and coordinates the technical evidence required to support it. Most importantly, our involvement does not end when the application is submitted.

Secure the Consent

Application preparation is only one part of delivering a consent. Our planners actively manage the determination process: engaging with planning officers, statutory consultees and technical stakeholders; responding to consultation comments; coordinating additional evidence; challenging issues where necessary; negotiating mitigation and conditions; and ensuring that matters capable of resolution do not become unnecessary reasons for refusal. This is where our experienced Planning Consultants add real value.
